Overseas camps for kids increasingly appealing

Zhou Xiaodong, a deputy general manager of an enterprise in Wuhan, Hubei province, has been thinking about sending his son, Zhou Zixuan, to study at a university overseas since the boy was only a seventh-grade student. To help the young man get acquainted with life abroad in advance, Zhou persuaded his son last year to enroll in a summer camp in the United States, which Zhou said had a great impact on his son.

Principal’s Letter to Our 2019 Graduates

The beautiful school hall was the setting and the occasion was new beginnings. This was the last time that the Class of 2019 would gather as one before embarking on the exciting next leg of their educational journeys. Their big day had arrived, and it was time to don their caps and gowns! It was also a special moment for proud family members, friends, administrators, faculty, and staff — all of whom helped graduates to fulfill their potential, providing support and championing their successes along the way.

College Admission Counseling Conference in Chongqing BI Academy

Chongqing BI Academy and China Institute of College Admission Counseling (ChinaICAC) jointly held China ICAC 2nd Conference. More than 70 admissions officers from the top universities of nine different countries around the world were invited to share the latest enrollment trends. This was a valuable opportunity for 400 families who were interested in studying abroad to communicate with admissions officers and consult their dream universities face to face.

Growth mindset helps students achieve future goals

In March, our Barstow School and Ningbo Haishu Hanvos School jointly held a “growth mindset” public seminar at the Ningbo Marriott Hotel. The seminar featured Shane Foster, the principal of the Barstow School from the U.S.; Qi Kunlun, principal of the Ningbo Haishu Hanvos School; and Katelyn, the head of the English Department of Ningbo Haishu Hanvos School. They introduced the growth mindset in three detailed aspects: “interpretation of the growth thinking,” “how parents and teachers train children to have growth mindset,” and “growth mindset and three-dimensional integrated curriculum construction” (i.e., compulsory education curriculum, English curriculum, excellent international citizenship development curriculum). Parents from grade 1 and grade 2, as well as more than ten local kindergartens, participated in the seminar.

Experience-sharing session about studying abroad from an upperclassman

On February 27^th, the International Department of Wuhan’s no.2 high school held an experience-sharing session about studying abroad. It invited the outstanding upperclassman, Jason Liu, a graduate student of St. Mary’s school who is currently a third-year student at UCLA in the United States. Jason was specially invited to share his study experience, as well as his successful university application and school choice, with his fellow underclassmen. The school looked forward to this session as it would help students to learn valuable experience and to reduce any difficulties with their own university applications.

Popular Chinese Children’s Show Chooses KLIS Campus to Film

During the May Labor Day holiday, the crew of Legend of Talents and ten young Chinese actors and actresses between the ages of 7 and 8 arrived at KL International School (KLIS) in Chongqing to film season three of their popular children’s sitcom.
